Advanced Business Services - Buffalo Niagara has over 50 companies with more than 16,000 employees in customer contact centers, back office operations, and data centers. Companies with recent expansions include; GEICO, Yahoo!, Sodexho and Marriott. Advanced Business Services find Buffalo Niagara’s experienced, tech-savvy, “user friendly” workforce, state-of-the-art telecom system, and more than 106,000 miles of fiber optic cable to be major assets for their industry.

Advanced Manufacturing - With a long history in manufacturing, we provide the workforce & physical infrastructure required. The manufacturing industry represents 10% of all jobs in the region. Major industry include: automotive part producers & their suppliers; aerospace & defense contractors; industrial chemicals; advanced plastics & new polymers; food packagers & processors.

Agribusiness - The agribusiness industry in Buffalo Niagara is fueled by area colleges, which graduate hundreds of students each year with degrees in agriculture, food, business, and national resources.

Cleantech - Buffalo Niagara’s economy is seeking to capitalize on the global demand for innovation in renewable energy & sustainability. Drawing on its industrial capacity, natural assets & manufacturing heritage, regional firms have begun to expand their manufacturing capacities in wind, photovoltaic, & thermal solar. Companies in the Cleantech industry have taken great interest in Buffalo Niagara’s Hydropower, a “clean” source of power at a low rate.

Life Sciences - The Buffalo Niagara region is home to approximately 130 companies in the medical device, therapeutics and related sectors, while employing approximately 6,500 people, not including those in healthcare. The region’s prime location on the Canadian-American boarder halfway between Toronto and Rochester, NY, positions Buffalo Niagara within an ever larger biomedical industry cluster consisting of more than 650 companies, research & health care centers, & $1 billion in annual life sciences research

Logistics - Buffalo Niagara’s Great Lakes waterfront – Lake Ontario and Lake Erie – make us a shipping and logistics hub. Buffalo Niagara provides a market that no other city in the U.S. or Canada can match. We're home to seven international ports of entry (4 auto, 2 rail, 1 water), facilitating $72 billion in annual trade between Canada and the U.S. That's 15 percent of the total trade conducted between the world's two largest trading partners.

Tourism - Buffalo Niagara is rich with history & museums, professional sports, four seasons of recreation, casinos, shopping, a vibrant nightlife, top notch restaurants, theater & more. People are at the heart of hospitality & tourism, and our region is fortunate that one of our most abundant natural resources is our helpful & friendly people. As hospitality & tourism becomes a more sophisticated business, educated people are a must. We are home to a number of hospitality & tourism administration schools.
