J.P. Losman - "Where Life Works" Brand Ambassador

"Buffalo Niagara works because of its sense of community. I admire the region's pride in its heritage, way of life and, of course passion for its sports teams. Buffalo Niagara offers a tremendous amount or arts, culture and entertainment options from water skiing in Lake Erie to enjoying the downtown Buffalo shops, restaurants and nightlife. Buffalo Niagara is an exciting place to live and I'm proud to call this area my home."

                       - J.P. Losman, Buffalo Bills Quarterback

J.P. Losman is now in his fourth season with the Buffalo Bills after being a first round draft pick in 2004. A native of Venice, California, Losman has made his home in the city of Buffalo and is bold about his love of the region.

While many professional athletes get behind a cause, Losman's cause comes from the heart. He is spearheading the nonprofit Buffalo Lives organization in a very hands-on way. It's an effort to clean up and revitalize the community. This grassroots project, Buffalo Lives, is also something Western New Yorkers can get behind. The group's first official cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, September 1st.

When you talk to JP Losman, you're left with little question that he is a city dweller. The Buffalo Bills quarterback will gladly tell you about the many restaurants he loves up and down the Elmwood strip, the rock clubs like Mohawk Place and Nietzsche's where he's been getting a taste for the local music scene and about picking out skateboard decks at Sunday Skate Shop on Potomac.

He lives nearby them all and he wouldn't change that for anything.

Maturing Losman setting down roots in Buffalo

By Scott Pitoniak, Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle

BUFFALO - J.P. Losman peers out the window of Shanghai Red's, a trendy restaurant on the Erie Basin Marina, a fly pattern or two from the heart of downtown. Off in the distance on this brilliant, sunny summer afternoon, a sailboat glides across the placid water toward the harbor.

"Look at that," the Bills quarterback says. "That's as gorgeous a sight as you'll find anywhere. People in Buffalo really don't know all the great things they have going for them" the beautiful natural resources, the friendly, caring neighbors. I really believe this city is a hidden gem."

Teens get straight talk from J.P.

J.P. LOSMAN: "When I look back and I'm 50 years old, I want to say I accomplished things when people said I couldn't do it."

By Mark Gaughan - NEWS SPORTS REPORTER
April 26, 2007 Thursday

J.P. Losman was in his element Wednesday afternoon -- his off-the-field element.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback hosted a party for Buffalo Public Schools students at Dave and Buster's restaurant in Williamsville and delivered a message to them that is most dear to his heart -- the value of education.

Losman grew up in an inner-city setting in Venice, Calif., and feels a strong connection with children who don't grow up in a privileged environment.

"I got lucky," Losman said. "I used sports as a way in [to higher education], and I used it as a way out. When I went to college, I said to myself, 'I'll play ball for your school. I'll put fans in the stands. But I'm going to get my education.' Education brings clarity. You want money? Education will get it. You want a nice house in the hills? Education will get it. It will get you wherever you want to go."
