Stellar Works at the Albright Knox

The highlight of 2006 at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery promises to be the re-installation of its celebrated permanent collection. Acclaimed as one of the great repositories of modern and contemporary art in the world, the Albright's reputation rests on what can only be described as an uncanny ability on the part of its directors and curators to recognize important work while paint is "still wet on the canvas." Visit Buffalo and share their vision.

Current and upcoming gallery exhibits include:

Petah Coyne: Above and Beneath the Skin
Few contemporary artists possess Petah Coyne's ability to transform ordinary matter into works of resolute poetry. Over the course of 16 years, she has challenged herself to engage diverse spaces and to experiment with new media. (June 9 - September 10, 2006)

Chuck Close: Self-Portraits, 1967-2005
Celebrated as one of the most influential figurative painters of our time, Chuck Close has remained a vital presence by focusing exclusively on portraiture, a genre often under-recognized in contemporary art. (July 21- October 22, 2006)

Andrea Zittel: Critical Space
Zittel researches, designs, and constructs her own domestic settings that serve as test cases for her experimental living structures. (October 6, 2006 - January 7, 2007)
