The life sciences industry is a key part of the Buffalo Niagara Community. To help insure that start-up life sciences companies can become successful commercial ventures in Western New York, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman (LMWF), a law firm in downtown Buffalo, collaborated with Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE) to create the LMWF-BNE Field Guide for Starting and Growing A Life Science Company in Western New York.

The Field Guide is a comprehensive, yet user friendly, resource for entrepreneurs as they work their way down the path from idea generation to commercialization. The Field Guide provides information about how to define and evaluate market opportunities, form a business, prepare a business plan, recruit and hire employees, finance a business, protect intellectual property, including through patents and trademarks, work your way through sometimes applicable government regulations, and how to acquire or lease a facility in which to operate a business.
