Lorrie Abounader
Business Development Manager

Lorrie Abounader, who was born and raised in Buffalo, joined BNE’s Business Development team in 2008. She works primarily with companies in the Wind and Data Center/Back Office industries that are considering relocating or expanding in the Buffalo Niagara region. Lorrie’s background in geography and her knowledge of regional incentives give her a unique perspective on issues of importance to business owners.

Prior to joining BNE, Lorrie worked at Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation, the economic development agency for the City of Buffalo. She served as coordinator of the Empire Zone, where she helped businesses acquire certification in the New York State tax incentive program, and as administrator of the federal government’s Renewal Community tax incentive program.

Lorrie attended the State University of New York College at Geneseo, where she majored in geography and minored in business management and art history. She earned a master of arts in geography at the University at Buffalo, with an emphasis on urban development.

“The Buffalo-Niagara Region is host to world-renowned art and architecture. Whether it’s Charles Burchfield to Andy Warhol or E.B. Green to Frank Lloyd Wright, I enjoy the variety of museums and stunning architecture found in my community that rival any major metropolitan area.”
