 Business Opportunities in Offshore Wind Event to be Held in Dunkirk, NY
Buffalo Niagara Region Has Potential to Build Strong Offshore Wind Industry
 
Dunkirk, NY— The Chautauqua Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Niagara Enterprise and Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier announced that they will be hosting a business conference, Business Opportunities in Offshore Wind, to support and grow New York State's clean energy economy through development of the offshore wind power industry.  Business Opportunities in Offshore wind will be held on Thursday, September 13, from 8 to 10 am at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk, NY.  
 The event will include presentations made by leading turbine manufacturer, Vestas and offshore wind project management company, PMSS. Both companies have successfully completed offshore wind projects in Europe. Turbine manufacturer Vestas will speak to how the town of Dunkirk, France was transformed in the process of serving as a construction staging port for the Thanet wind farm in the English Channel. The UK offshore consulting firm PMSS will describe the goods and services required during each month of the multi-year process of developing, building and operating an offshore wind farm
The aim of Business Opportunities in Offshore Wind is to provide a visual presentation on offshore wind development and construction activity in Europe, as a window to what is possible in the Buffalo Niagara Region. Wind turbines are the most visible component of an offshore wind farm, but developing and building an offshore wind farm requires a multitude of goods and services delivered over a period of years.  An offshore wind energy industry centered around Lake Erie has the potential to be a significant economic driver for the region.
