Materion growing in Niagara County

Materion Microelectronics & Services has completed an expansion at its Wheatfield facility.

The project on Lockport Road expands capacity by 50 percent at the company, a unit of Materion Corp. (NYSE: MTRN). The site provides precision parts cleaning and surface treatment of physical vapor deposition shield kits for manufacturers in such industries as wireless products, LEDs, medical consumables and photovoltaics.

The investment includes a fully-automated robotic twin wire arc spray; increased capacity for precious metal refining; near cleaning processes; and a clean room certified to Class 10,000.

Based in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Materion is a supplier of advanced materials to global markets. The company also has precision parts cleaning facilities in Ireland and Czech Republic.

The company was formerly known as Williams Advanced Materials, a business unit of Brush Engineered Metals Inc. The change was part of a company-wide name change of all Brush businesses under the Materion brand, effective March 8.

In addition to the facility on Lockport Road, Materion also operates a facility in Buffalo on Hertel Avenue.
