Group is Formed to Promote use of Falls Airport Terminal

News Staff Reports

 January 13, 2012

A new nonprofit group has been formed to promote greater use of the Niagara Falls International Airport terminal that opened two years ago.

The Niagara Falls International Airport Stakeholders Group aims to retain and attract more carriers, develop incentive packages for tourists and businesses, build relationships with emerging markets for cargo service, foster growth at air-related properties near the terminal and support the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

Members of the stakeholders group include businesses, economic development agencies, local governments and tourism promotion organizations. The president is Samuel Ferraro, executive director of the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.

The airport, which is operated by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, is served by three airlines.

To support the stakeholders’ effort, the Seneca Gaming Corp. is providing passenger incentives worth up to an estimated $1 million over a five-year agreement. Several other stakeholders are also providing financial support.
