Two new engines that will be manufactured at General Motors Co.’s Tonawanda plant in 2012 will be making their debut in the new 2013 Cadillac ATS compact luxury sedan.
The new vehicle will be revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, scheduled for Jan. 14 to 22 in Detroit.
A 2.5 liter will start official production in June 2012, to be followed by the 2.0 liter Turbo.
Production for both engines is scheduled to begin next summer.
By spring of next year, the plant is planning to bring back 103 employees. GM spokeswoman Mary Ann Brown said they should be called back by the end of the first quarter of 2012. After those are called back, GM will contact former Delphi workers from Lockport and Rochester.
