Animatics, based in Santa Clara, makes servo motors and linear actuators that are used in industrial, medical and defense products, ranging from factory automation equipment to flight simulators and weapons stabilization systems. Moog had supplied Animatics with some of the core motor components that the California company uses in its Smart- Motor product line. “The acquisition of Animatics brings several very strong products to our motion technology portfolio, as well as a sophisticated distribution network that reaches hundreds of customers worldwide,” said Larry Ball, president of Moog’s components business. Animatics had $15 million in sales during the previous 12 months. The acquisition is not expected to affect Moog’s earnings during the rest of its fiscal year, which ends in early October, but it will add about $5 million in revenue. Roughly $20 million of the purchase price will consist of Moog stock, and the remaining $5 million will be in cash. |
