This milestone has been in the works for over 12 months as clinical, technical, and administrative staff members have collaborated to design a tool that will assist in improving the delivery of health care across the organization. “The Electronic Medical Record go-live has been a great success thanks to the hard work, preparation and commitment of all hospitals and corporate departments pulling together to ensure a smooth transition”, said Christopher Lane President of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. “My sincerest thanks to everyone for rising to the challenge in order to improve the quality and safety of the care we deliver to our patients. ”
An extensive level of technical support on-site will continue to closely monitor this EMR installation for two weeks for any immediate follow up action that may be necessary. The support team will then apply what is learned at the Suburban launch into the rollout at the remaining facilities.
The Kaleida Health Board of Directors has deemed the successful completion of this project one of the organization’s top four priorities in 2011. Implementing the EMR involves the integration of electronic documentation for in-patient nursing and support service, complete Emergency Department, peri-operative nursing and anesthesia, and automated posting of patient vital sign data in the ED, ICU, and PACU.
