Nonprofit NxtArrow Eyes New Businesses

A new business development company known as nxtArrow is looking for a few good start-ups and hopes to find them in Buffalo.

The nonprofit recently signed a lease in downtown Buffalo’s Electric Tower building. Using its own network, nxtArrow wants to work with local entrepreneurs that have sufficient start-up funds, or, emerging companies that, while adequately funded, have an interest in locating to Buffalo. The company can provide one year of free rent and other business services in its Electric Tower space.

“Through nxtArrow, we strive to return the city back to its glory days by offering companies the resources they need to begin doing business in our area,” said John Howell, nxtArrow president and chief executive officer.

Howell said nxtArrow has already landed its first two clients — Work Smart eBusiness Solutions, a virtual office support company that’s moving from Boston, and Fineprintfinders LLC of Flint, Mich.

WorkSmart is offering technology consulting and work system development for companies while Fineprintfinders has developed software people interpret legal and financial fine print and typical consumer contracts.

Both will be the nxtArrow space later this spring.
