NY's Official State Vegetable

NY's Official State Vegetable
Thursday, June 23, 2011
Corn is the winner in the matter of what should be the official vegetable of New York state.
The state Senate ended the debate this week with a vote in Albany.
“It’s certainly not the most pressing issue in Albany, but it is an important issue for us. It gets one step closer to giving vegetables the props they are due,” said Peter Gregg, spokesman for the state Farm Bureau.
That would serve Business First readers well, as an earlier poll gave the nod to the maze over the onion by a 4-to-1 margin.
