Niagara IDA Nears Deal with S. Ont. co.

A Hamilton, Ont., corrugated box manufacturer has selected a Lewiston location for its first U.S. operation.

The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency is working with HT Productions Inc. on an incentive package that will help finance the company’s plans to acquire a vacant 55,000-square-foot building on Ridge Road where it will set up shop, for the first time, in the U.S. HT Productions makes corrugated paper products for the industrial sector.

The company will be investing more than $910,000 on setting up the Lewiston location and plans to hire 10 full-time workers and will creating another four part-time positions.

The NCIDA’s directors are expected to vote on the financing deal in February.

“Our investments in marketing and promoting Niagara County in Southern Ontario are continuing to pay dividends for our region and we are encouraged that there continues to be a strong interest by Canadian companies in doing business here,” said Henry Sloma, NCIDA chairman.

The HT Productions deal is one of three the NCIDA directors will consider at their February meeting.

Also on next month’s agenda:

• Wheatfield Family Dentistry is seeking a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes package to help finance its plans to construct a 4,000-square-foot building on Niagara Falls Boulevard that carries a $690,500 development price tag. The dentist office will comprise 2,500-square-feet of the building.

NCIDA documents show the office will retain eight full- and part-time employees while creating another eight full and part time positions.

• Dr. Frederick Piwko is also seeking a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) package to help finance the construction of a new, 2,600-square-foot medical office building on Lockport-Olcott Road in Newfane.

The new office carries a $462,000 development price tag and will help create two new jobs while retaining six full- and part-time workers.

Also, NCIDA directors, Wednesday morning, approved a lease extension for Edwards Vacuum for its current home on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Edwards is building a 55,000-square-foot building in the Vantage International Pointe industrial park off of Lockport Road in Wheatfield. Edwards will be creating 25 new jobs and retaining another 100 workers.
