International interest for LifeCell Dx
Business First - by David Bertola
Date: Thursday, April 7, 2011
A Korean TV crew will be in Amherst on Friday at LifeCell Dx Inc., a company specializing in male infertility.
The producers plan to interview Dr. Lani Burkman about the connection between smoking and fertility.
Burkman, an international expert in the field of andrology, founded LifeCell Dx Inc. in 2008 to help men improve their sperm motility, or movement. LifeCell Dx provides computer-assisted semen analysis, which tracks the way sperm move, as well as proprietary methods of helping sperm swim more vigorously and in the right patterns to successfully fertilize an egg.
In 2009, Burkman filed a patent in December for her methods, which include using specialized digital cameras in tandem with microscopes.
