Business First of Buffalo - by David Bertola

The grand opening of the new Upstate New York Medical & Technology Park in Batavia is set for Friday, Aug. 20.

The 43,000-square-foot building near Genesee Community College will be named after Bruce Holm, a Batavia native who is executive director of the University at Buffalo’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. Holm is also a SUNY distinguished professor of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pharmacology and Toxicology at UB.
A ribbon cutting for the “Dr. Bruce A. Holm Upstate MedTech Centre” is set for Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

Located in the Upstate MedTech Park, the building will house the Genesee County Economic Development Center offices as well as those for Genesee Community College’s nursing program and United Memorial Medical Center’s physical and occupational therapy programs.

Approximately 6,100 square feet are being set aside for life sciences companies that have ties to area university centers, including UB and the University of Rochester.
