Home > About BNE > Press Room > 2010 Archive > October > BNE Releases Labor Market Assessment BNE Releases Labor Market Assessment    Opening the presentation with the statement "this is not your grandfather's economy", University at Buffalo Regional Institute Director Dr. Kathyrn Foster joined us in presenting our labor market assessment entitled "Buffalo Niagara 2010 - Who's Your Economy" to approximately 50 business leaders, economic development partners and human resources practitioners on Septmebr 20th.  BNE commissioned the Regional Institute to perform the study because accurate, timely and objective local labor market information is critical to our business attraction efforts.    One of the more valuable findings of the study was the gradual shift that has occurred in our economy from a predominantly manufacturing base to a more diversified economy and workforce.  This diversification has been labeled as a primary reason why the Buffalo Niagara economy has fared better than most during the recession.  Other very positive results identified are the high concentration of college educated workers and very competitive wage rates.  A copy of the study can be downloaded from our BNE website and you can click here to purchase a copy of the very valuable 2010 Buffalo Niagara Wage and Salary Report.  Thank you to the Regional Institute and all the members of the advisory group who assisted with the report.  Special thanks go to BNE investors National Fuel Gas and National Grid for their support of the study.
