WNY Factory Output Climbs Again

For the second consecutive month the manufacturing sector was on the upswing in the Buffalo Niagara region.

Activity increased at area factories in both the non-seasonally adjusted purchasing manager’s index, up .6 percent to 50, and the seasonally adjusted PMI, up 2.5 percent 53.2. That is according to the National Association of Purchasing Management-Buffalo Inc.

The index for new orders was up 6.2 percent, the report said. Production, while off 2.8 percent, continued to expand. Commodity prices showed signs of slowing and the employment index showed a strong increase.
