Waterloo-based company that manufactures backyard kids playsets. A need to better service existing US sales as well as aspirations to grow their US customer base were the driving factors for expansion. This company considered seven other states before deciding on Buffalo Niagara. They determined that their best option was to locate in the Buffalo Niagara region using a 3rd party logistics, warehouse and distribution facility, Sonwil Distribution. Sonwil hired four full-time employees to meet the distribution needs of Solowave, and Solowave is now looking to hire a local coordinator for their US orders and Shipments.

NuComm International, a St. Catherines-based provider of customer relationship and call center services, needed to establish a second US-based call center to meet growing demand for services. Workforce availability was the single most important factor in their site location decision; thus, NuComm worked with BNE to identify available workers and their geographic locations relative to their short list of potential site locations. Using this data, they determine their ideal site location and they leased space in the town of Wheatfield, Niagara County at the Summit Park mall, investing $927,000 and creating 157 jobs.
DRC Video – Project Dance

DRC Video is a service-based business specializing in videotaping competitive dance shows based in Concord, ON. They had a need to establish a satellite office in the US to continue to grow US sales and eliminate issues with border crossings. BNE assisted DRC with establishing contacts for incorporation, immigration, US accounting and US banking.
York Valuation Group Inc. – Project Evaluate

York Valuation Group Inc. is a Canadian-based business valuation services company. They needed to establish their first US office to better serve existing clients in the New York City and Washington, DC areas. BNE assisted this company perform their due diligence, eventually determining that Buffalo Niagara was the most cost-effective location for their first US office, leasing space in Orchard Park, and started to hire new employees.
Transcontinental Hardware – Project Exhibit

Transcontinental Hardware is a Toronto-based manufacturer of custom cases for music and electronics; they also produce the industrial hardware involved in the manufacture of these cases. The company had three US locations in addition to its Toronto headquarters (Buffalo, Cleveland and Dallas). The company determined that it needed to close the Cleveland office and consolidate into one of the three remaining offices (Dallas, Toronto or Buffalo). BNE worked with the company to coordinate appropriate meetings for incentives, workforce and other financing. The company decided to consolidate the Cleveland facility in Buffalo, adding 10,000 square feet to their existing facility on William St. in the City of Buffalo.
Visual Defense Inc. – Project Classified

Visual Defense Inc. is a Richmond Hill-based manufacturer of security and telecommunications equipment, almost all of which is manufactured for government and transit authority contracts. They saw a major need to establish a US manufacturing facility to enhance their market access and to possess the “Made in the USA” label that is becoming ever more necessary to win government contracts. BNE assisted with site location identification, incentives, workforce and immigration. They selected a site in the Town of Tonawanda that is also in an SBA HUBZone. By locating in a HUBZone, Visual Defense further enhanced its opportunities to win contracts with the US federal government.
