Duncan Cowie, Regional General Manager — Tel: 1 877 637 2615 x35038 October 5, 2009 Transcom calls Tonawanda home in NY StateTranscom Worldwide, the global outsourced services company, is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Tonawanda, New York. Transcom’s 7,000 sq. ft. facility will be located at 1000 Young Street, providing a wealth of options for its new employees. Located near the intersection of the I-290 and Twin Cities Memorial Hwy, the new location offers on-site parking, is readily accessible by public transit, and is located within walking distance of local shops and restaurants. Established in 1995, Transcom employs more than 21,000 trained professionals in 75 contact centre locations across the world. The North America & Asia division employs over 7,000 people, with offices across Canada, the USA, and the Philippines. Originally located at The Summit Mall in Wheatfield, Transcom began looking for an alternate site this year when Oberlin Plaza One filed for bankruptcy in May and announced that the mall would be closed and decommissioned. With a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the legal situation at the Summit, Transcom’s management team reached out to their contacts at Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, who put them in touch with some attorneys to examine their options, and helped them to look at additional sites. Amy Tyrpa, Human Resources Manager, explains, “While the closure of the Summit so soon after our launch was disappointing for both us and our employees, it ultimately opened up a new opportunity for us. In searching for a new location, our primary goal was to find something in the area that would allow us to retain our existing employees. At the same time, we wanted something closer to Buffalo that would allow us to expand our recruiting efforts.” With a larger location and the uncertainties of operating through the closure of The Summit behind then, Transcom has seized the opportunity to expand their operations in New York State. Now comfortably established in its new location, Transcom is once again accepting applications, with its first class of 20 new employees already in training. “We’re looking for candidates with good technical skills, who are self starters, and who are interested in continuously improving their skills,” says Amy. People who want to be part of a dynamic, exciting team, and who really take pride in helping customers, will find that Transcom offers a competitive rate of pay, a strong benefits package, and opportunities for advancement. “At Transcom,” Amy stresses, “it really is our people who make the difference.” Candidates are encouraged to visit www.transcom.com/work and apply online.
