Canadian firm expands to WNY

By Matt Glynn

Advanced Presentation Products, a logistics and distribution company based near Toronto, is opening a location in the Town of Wheatfield, Buffalo Niagara Enterprise said.

Advanced, which wholesales and distributes audio/visual products, has agreed to lease space in Calamar’s Woodlands Corporate Center, and will create 10 jobs and invest $300,000 at the location, said Paul Pfeiffer, a spokesman for BNE, which works with companies that are expanding or relocating in the region.

Advanced decided to add a U. S. location because a substantial portion of its sales are on this side of the border, Pfeiffer said. Shipping costs and eliminating delays in shipping were among the factors that drove the decision, he said.

Advanced is leasing 3,700 square feet of space in an existing Woodlands building, said Sandra Lister, leasing executive with Calamar.

BNE credited one of its investors, the Hodgson Russ law firm, with introducing BNE representatives to Advanced. The state Department of Labor also assisted with the project, Pfeiffer said.

An executive with Advanced did not return calls to comment on the expansion to Wheatfield.

Canadian companies have become an important source of business expansion projects for BNE. In its annual report for its past fiscal year, which ended June 30, BNE said seven of its 19 “wins,” or 37 percent of the total, involved Canadian companies.
