Canadian co. lands at Main PlaceBusiness First of Buffalo

by David Bertola

The Canadian-based company offers a range of services, including co-location, Internet hosting and managed IT.

The new site, owner Robert Offley said, will play a major role in his company’s growth. He projected 50 to 75 people would be hired for jobs over the next three years, and the new Buffalo office could become a hub for managed services.

“The demand for outsourced (information technology) services continues to grow,” said Offley who, as owner, also holds titles of president and CEO.

The Buffalo office location will occupy 23,000 square feet on the first floor. Offley said the location is a natural geographic point, completing a ring of other CentriLogic offices that stretch from Toronto to Mississauga, Ont. to its Rochester office, which opened two years ago.

Offley said some customers, including some from Canada, have already migrated data to downtown Buffalo, which will be used as a disaster recovery site. CentriLogic’s growth, which he said outpaces the industry’s 20 percent annual growth rate, dictated the need for a second datacenter.

To start, around five people will operate the office and datacenter. He said those with skills such as senior Unix technicians, Microsoft networking would be among those who may be hired first. The company also will be looking for back-office personnel.
