RPCI, UB share stim funding Business First of Buffalo
by Tracey Drury
Two new federal stimulus grants totaling nearly $4.2 million are on their way to support biomedical research and training in Western New York. Roswell Park Cancer Institute and the University at Buffalo will receive grants of $2.2 million and $1.95 million, respectively, from the National Institutes of Health. The funds, which come through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, are targeted toward biomedical research and research training at more than 3,000 institutions nationwide.
The awards will support 16 local researchers.
Both institutions have received additional grant awards through ARRA and the NIH in recent months totaling more than $3.5 million.
The Recovery Act included $10.4 billion for the National Institutes of Health, including $8.2 billion for scientific research priorities.
