— Many Companies, organizations and attraction around Buffalo are jumping on the Facebook “page” wagon. This application allows entities the chance to market themselves, through text, pictures, discussion boards and video uploads, in an interactive way. The Buffalo Niagara Enterprise is no stranger to the application, and has made excellent use of its interactive features to show people just what the company does through its various types of media on the page.

— This quiet mountain metropolis of just over 675,000 saw none of the wild speculation of former boomtowns like Las Vegas or Miami, nor the ruined fortunes that followed. Of course, Little Rock isn't completely isolated from the recent housing downturn. There are 200 foreclosures in the works, according to Trulia.com, an online real estate data provider. Developers are scrapping new housing projects, and sales activity froze in the third quarter.

- Hauptman closer to breast cancer cure

— A Buffalo researcher at Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute has moved a step closer to a cure, and possibly the prevention, of the most common type of breast cancer.
Debashis Ghosh, a senior research scientist, reached a milestone by determining the third and last structure of an enzyme used by the human body to create estrogen, work that will enable further research to develop drugs to specifically target estrogen-dependent tumors in breast cancer.
