UB places 48th in MBA rankings

The University at Buffalo is 48th on Forbes magazine's new rankings of MBA programs.

Forbes based its rankings of business schools on a formula that estimated the return on investment that graduates were able to achieve after five years.

The typical Class of 2004 MBA student at UB was earning $31,000 per year before entering the program, according to Forbes. That same typical student had a salary of $84,000 by 2008.

Two other MBA programs in Upstate New York outranked UB on the Forbes list -- Cornell University in seventh place and the University of Rochester in 37th.

Stanford University placed No. 1 on the list, with its average 2004 graduate making $225,000 by 2008. This is the top 10:

• 1. Stanford
