Bills season-ticket sales now 3rd highest

The Buffalo Bills continue to bring in new season-ticket accounts, saying Wednesday that 55,194 season tickets have been sold for the 2009 campaign.

That figure ranks as the third highest in team history, surpassing the 1991 number of 54,604. It also marks the first time in the franchise’s 50-year history that the Bills have had back-to-back season ticket sales totals over 55,000.

“To surpass 55,194 season tickets two seasons in a row is an outstanding accomplishment and it’s a testament to both the team and the community,” said a statement from Russ Brandon, Bills chief operating officer/general manager. “In today’s economy I think this really emphasizes the passion our fans have for the Buffalo Bills and it continues to reinforce how important our regionalization efforts are to the growth of this franchise.”

The average ticket price at Ralph Wilson Stadium is $51.14 per seat, the lowest cost in the 32-team National Football League.

The highest season ticket total in franchise history is 57,132, accomplished in 1992 and the second highest total was 56,011 in 2008.

Of the seven regular-season home games, limited ticket availability remains for the Nov. 29 game versus the Miami Dolphins, the Dec. 20 game against the AFC East rival New England Patriots and the Jan. 3, 2010 game versus the Indianapolis Colts.

The Bills will play their eighth home game against the New York Jets at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on Thursday, Dec. 3.
